With the conception of high-speed fully-automatic screen printing system, screen printing touches areas which require the use of new and more advanced machinery concepts.

It is not sufficient to simply add machines which are built for normal screen printing purposes together in a multicolor line, because with the additon of each printing station the technical requirements are also greatly increased.

This is especially true when maximum performance is required during multi-shift-operations, and production quality and speed are prime considerations. Furthermore, with conventional machines considerable time and attention must be spent "setting-up" to ensure an acceptable quality of print.

Thus, a more modern, flexible and accurate control facility for the various machine functions is a major requirement in multicolor screen printing.

The THIEME 5000 series was developed with all the above considerations in mind, and represents the ultimate in screen printing technology.

The automatic sheet feeder is designed as front edge feeder which allows approx. 1.5 t (3307 lbs.) max. pile weight.

The THIEME 5000 operates on the principle of the "continuous gripper system". The one-color-machine is equipped with 4 grippers.

Operation:

1. Step
Delivery of a sheet by the automatic sheet feeder to the pre-centering station of the screen printing machine

2. Step
Automatic setting of the sheet at front edge and lateral edge (optically checked)

3. Step
Grippers close

4. Step
The gripper transports the sheet into the first print station

5. Step
The print table will be lifted and centers the gripper. At the same time the print unit lowers down to printing position.

6. Step
Printing cycle

7. Step
The print unit is lifted and the print table is lowered at the same time

8. Step
The gripper transports the sheet onto a transport belt. At the same time a new sheet is transported into the printing station.

9. Step
The gripper is opened, the sheet is put on the transport belt and transported to the dryer.
